...but I keep forgetting to post about it.

9:01 PM 10/15/09 · The recession may or may not be over, really depends on who you ask, but its scars run deep. Most noticeably in local businesses that've either bit the big one or are in the process of going the way of the dinosaur.

One particular favorite of mine, which has been circling the drain for awhile now, is Know Knew Books of Palo Alto. They've had 3 going out of business sales that went well enough that they resumed normal operation but now they've got something new in the window.

Liquidation:

In huge red letters. Much bigger than that, each letter is about the length of my torso and I'm considerred tall. It's possible that they may recover if they get enough sales, I asked about it inside, but they're not too optimistic this time around.

Okay, their punctuation & sentence structure ain't great.

If you'd be so kind, and have the time, I think you should swing by and buy a lot of stuff. They're a small book store with one of the most impressive scifi sections I've seen in a score of larger chains. Yeah they have other stuff too but that's my chief interest with the place.

Visitors enjoy viewing the art at the NYAXE Gallery opening.

The grand opening of the NYAXE Gallery in Palo Alto, CA last night was a success. A steady flow of visitors observed the art and digital displays of myartspace.com member art until closing. Catherine McCormack-Skiba, the CEO, founder and Creative Director of myartspace.com, was on hand to meet visitors. The gallery, located at 818 Emerson St. in Palo Alto, featured 24 members of the myartspace.com community:

Hi All!

Last week I posted to my personal journal asking if any of my local friends wanted to meet up in real life and got only 1 or 2 responses.

I've joined Kupple.com - nothing. I've joined Couplets.com - nada.

Then a Mod from one of the bay area communities approached me and suggested that I ask around in the communities. Well I didn't exactly know how to approach this and that got me thinking...

So I created a community bayareacouples for this purpose. I am not going to go around all of LJ promoting this community or "pimping it out" but I wanted to ask if anybody in this community might be in a couple - married, engaged, long term, whatever! And might want to join my community to arrange for couple type activities.

I am just looking to make some new friends and get out there and enjoy all of what the Bay Area has to offer with some good company.

Maybe if you are interested in meeting with me and other couples in the bay area you can join the community and we can work on arranging an activity.

X-posted to bay area related communities.

This place has been around since 2006 and there's not a single post here.

Weird.
